Well Alabama weather is one that can never be boring. 70 degree temps and a tornado in Huntsville last Thursday and now a chance (although right now it is slim) for some type of wintry mix by Friday night this week. Right now the GFS is showing a powerful snow or ice storm from near I-40 in Tennessee up to the North. Those living in the Nashville area need to take precautions and monitor this developing weather situation carefully. Around here in North Alabama right now it looks as if the coldest air will be coming in behind the rain we could see 1-2" of rainfall here in the Tennessee Valley. Then on Friday night the cold air will be very shallow and as it dips into Alabama we could see a brief change over to freezing rain, sleet and/or a few snow flakes mixed in. As of right now we do not expect much in the way of travel problems but the forecast will change many times over the next couple days. Those remember the Christmas week storm it looked as if we would get a good snowfall all the way up to the day before it started and everything changed over night. So with that said we will be fine tuning with every model run. The graphic is valid at noon Friday.
