Well after receiving a few emails and and other questions about the possibility for snow over the weekend I thought I would try to put some minds at ease. Yes parts of south Alabama saw small sporadic accumulating snows today. Was it forecast? NO it was not all that was forecast was a few flurries if that, so it was a surprise to see some accumulating on grassy areas. Although it did not amount to much it was pretty to look at. With that said lets turn to the weekend, an approaching cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms are expected on Saturday. A rain and snow mix will possibly change over into all snow by Sunday afternoon. While some models are all over the place on this the one thing you can count on will be the cold. We will have a hard time climbing above freezing Monday with a gusty wind keeping wind chill index values in the teens. The coldest morning should come early Tuesday, with most places dropping into the 16 to 20 degree range, with colder valleys and protected areas making a run at 10 degrees. If you will notice the models are showing the possibility for snow over the NW Corner of the state and most of Mississippi on Sunday. Will it amount to anything no one knows for sure right now. Trying to predict winter weather is not like predicting severe weather. It is impossible to really nail down who will get snow and who will get rain or nothing at all until about 24-36 hours out. With that said you can see it is on the table and the ingredients are there, but will they come together at the right time. I hope so because we are way over due here in North Alabama.
DO NOT GO BUY MILK AND BREAD this is not in stone and you know some people do over exaggerate things when it come to winter weather. So stay tuned for further updates and
