More on the Possible Snow on Christmas

Well it is all still the same some models are still showing snow and some do not for Alabama on Christmas Day. The Canadian (GEM), European ECMWF), and Japanese JMA all are showing decent amounts of snow across north Alabama. The GFS is a little hesitant on this thinking as it is showing the moisture being very limited after the cold air moves in. As I posted earlier the local guys will not touch this with a 10 foot pole because these models (the snowy ones) have not been real reliable. Normally they would change a little from day to day but they have had real consistency this time so it is a waiting game to see which one wins out. The one thing we can all count on is it is going to be cold real cold on Christmas and a few days after. Notice the model for January 1st as it looks like a decent strong to severe thunderstorms could be possible if this setup stays true. Then on the January 2nd model it looks as if we could have a whopper of snow and cold setup. remember as always THIS IS NOT A FORECAST. It is very hard to forecast Winter Wx in Alabama this far out, it normally takes to 36-48 hours before the event to really narrow down where it is going to happen. So stay tuned and do not run out to buy milk and bread just yet.
